Hi! I'm Kristen, a mom of three beautiful children: twin 20-year-olds, Cheyenne and Cayden, and an 11-year-old, Annabelle.
I started this blog as an open diary of our family's healing journey. I also wanted to highlight our personal stories of navigating life with a rare neurological condition, parenting with ADHD and anxiety, and healing from trauma in hopes that it can help others in similar circumstances.
It's important for us to discuss topics like this, free of stigma and learn how they intertwine with our lives and experiences.

John is my husband of 10 years. We married in 2016 after being together since 2012. A few years back, he was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition called Myasthenia Gravis, which almost took his life. Despite this, he has been a source of strength, resilience, and courage for our family. On top of managing his condition, he pushed through to earn his Ph.D. and often shares personal stories of his own experiences that inspire others pursuing higher education and desire inclusivity.

Our 20-year-old daughter Cheyenne lives with us and is attending a U.S. college online. She loves painting and sculpting, using her talents to promote acceptance and healing through her art.
Annabelle, our 11-year-old daughter, is currently attending a primary language school. Her passion for gymnastics has led her to join a competitive team which keeps her (and us) super busy!

We are the McAvoy's, an American, neurodivergent family of four living in the Netherlands. The current political landscape in the United States encouraged us reevaluate our priorities for the sake of our family's safety, health and future. Now, we are navigating life abroad and trying to build the best life for ourselves in this new culture. It's scary and thrilling at the same time. Welcome to our journey, we hope you enjoy the stories and can benefit from them in some way.
